Goods-in-transit & Storage Insurance

Your items are covered from the moment we pick them up to the moment they are returned. Two separate insurance covers β€” one for transit, one for storage β€” so there is no gap in protection.

Two Types of Coverage

Transit Coverage

Goods-in-Transit Insurance

Covers your items while they are being transported in our vehicles between your premises and our warehouse. This insurance is active from the moment our team begins loading at your location to the moment items are unloaded and logged at the facility.

  • Covers accidental damage and theft during transit
  • All our vehicles are GPS-tracked and company-owned β€” not third-party contractors
  • Activated automatically at the start of every pickup
  • Applies to all items loaded and barcoded during the pickup
  • Photography at pickup documents pre-existing condition
Storage Coverage

Storage Insurance

Covers your items while they are stored at our ISO 9001 certified warehouse. The storage facility is protected by FM-200 fire suppression (no water damage), a compound perimeter with CCTV and guards, Bosch intrusion alarms, and Honeywell access control.

  • Covers fire, flood, burglary
  • FM-200 clean agent suppression β€” no water damage to stored items
  • CCTV coverage of all zones, 24/7
  • Biometric and RFID access control to client storage zones
  • Coverage active from the day items arrive at the facility

How Claims Work

1

Notify Us Within 24 Hours

Call 8088848484 or WhatsApp us as soon as you discover damage or loss. The 24-hour window from discovery is important β€” do not delay notification.

2

Provide Item Details

Give us the item description, the barcode number if available, and the declared value. Having purchase invoices or photographs of the item before storage speeds up the process.

3

Inspection

Our team inspects the item and cross-checks our pickup photographs and barcode records. For larger claims, the insurer's surveyor may also conduct an independent inspection.

4

Settlement Within 30 Working Days

Once inspection is complete and documentation is verified, the claim is settled within 30 working days. Our team keeps you informed at every stage.

Why Photographing and Barcoding at Pickup Matters

📷

Pre-existing Condition Is Documented

Every item is photographed at your premises before it is loaded onto our vehicle. If an item has a pre-existing scratch or dent, that is captured in the photo. This prevents disputes β€” we can clearly distinguish between damage that existed before pickup and any damage that may have occurred during transit or storage.

Barcode Creates Chain of Custody

Every item gets a unique barcode label at pickup. Every movement that item makes β€” from your premises to our vehicle, to the warehouse, to your allocated bay β€” is recorded against that barcode. If you ever need to raise a claim, the chain of custody record tells us exactly where the item was and when.

📅

Timestamps Support Claims

All photographs are automatically timestamped. If a claim is raised, the timestamp confirms the date and time the item was handed over in a specific condition. This is particularly valuable for electronics, IT hardware, and high-value items where condition at handover is critical to the claim assessment.

Frequently Asked Questions β€” Insurance

Are my items insured during transit? +
Yes. Goods-in-transit insurance covers your items from the moment they are loaded onto our vehicle at your premises to the moment they are unloaded and logged at our warehouse. Our fleet is company-owned and GPS-tracked β€” we do not use third-party contractors for pickups.
What is the claims process? +
Notify SafeStorage within 24 hours of discovering damage or loss. Provide a description of the item and its declared value. Our team will inspect the item and cross-check pickup photographs and barcode records. The insurer's surveyor may also conduct an independent inspection if required. Claims are typically settled within 30 working days.
Is high-value jewellery covered? +
High-value jewellery and fine art are subject to a declared value assessment and may require an additional insurance premium. Please consult with our team at 8088848484 before storing such items so we can arrange appropriate coverage in advance.
How is the value of items determined? +
Item values are based on the declared value provided by the client at intake. We photograph every item at pickup, giving a timestamped condition record. For high-value items, we recommend providing purchase invoices or valuation certificates to support any future claim and speed up settlement.
Can I get a certificate of insurance for compliance purposes? +
Yes. A certificate of insurance can be provided on request for compliance, due diligence, or regulatory purposes. Contact our team at 8088848484 or via WhatsApp at wa.me/918147013041 and we will arrange the documentation.
