The Challenge
A Pune fashion retail chain with 8 stores needed to move their off-season women's wear collection between Q1 and Q3. They had 3,200 garments across 600 cubic feet — kurtas, lehengas, and formal wear that were premium SKUs but not live-season items. Keeping them in store backrooms was costing them approximately ₹18,000–22,000/month in prime backroom rent that could otherwise be used for the live Q2 summer collection. The operations manager also needed to retrieve specific SKUs for two planned pop-up events in month 2, without manually sorting through 3,200 garments at the store level.
The Solution
SafeStorage collected all 3,200 garments across the 8 Pune stores over two pickup days. Every garment was individually SKU-tagged with a barcode label during the packing process — style code, size, colour, and store-of-origin recorded in the digital portal. Garments were hung on protected clothing racks within SafeStorage's Pune facility, covered in dust-protection sleeves, and organised by style code for easy retrieval. The operations manager had full portal access showing every garment by SKU within 24 hours of final induction. In month 2, the team requested 180 specific garments (by style code and size) for the two pop-up events — SafeStorage retrieved and delivered to the pop-up venue within 24 hours, without disturbing the remaining 3,020 stored garments.
The Result
The chain freed up approximately 75 sqft of backroom space per store across 8 locations — an estimated ₹1.2 lakh/month in opportunity cost recovered. At season end in Q3, all 3,200 garments were returned with a per-garment condition report — giving the buying team full visibility of wear/damage before the next season launch. Zero garments written off versus 4–6% write-off rate in the previous year when garments were stored in-store.
